THE ADVENTURES OF JUMPING BEAN
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
All the way from Mexico.
Came all the way to Texas,
To jump in places he didn't know.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Went into a shop.
Looking for a good place,
To jump and bounce and hop.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
found a great big doll house.
But it was allready occupied,
By a tiny little mouse.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Saw the real huge exit.
But our little jumping bean,
Was way to small to open it.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Jumped up as he waited.
When all of a sudden,
His wish was finaly granted.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Hopped into the street.
Searching all over the place,
For something good to eat.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Saw a garbage can.
Making his way over there,
He saw the big old man.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Bounced as fast as he could.
But the big old man scooped him up,
And put him in a box of balsa wood.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Tried his best to escape.
Still, no matter how hard he hopped,
The box would not break.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Woke up from his nap.
Discovering that he had not,
Been sucked into a trap.
Jumping bean, jumping bean,
Found a place to settle.
A nice and warm and fuzzy,
Shelter at the local kennel.

It's just a random poem that I felt like writing. Also, it's been a long time scince I wrote a fun poem that made sense. :-D
Why a Mexican Jumping Bean, you ask? Like I said before, IT'S A RANDOM POEM!!!!

For some strange reason, my mom thinks that it's a metaphor of illegal immigrants from Mexico. Weird, right?

Wow, Laffy Taffy. I really REALLY enjoyed reading The Adventures of Jumping Bean. You are a poet... (which is a person who can write about random things line by line) and make them enjoyable. Sometimes I really enjoy poems that don't make sense, too. I haven't seen a Mexican Jumping Bean since I was a kid, and I don't remember if it was when I visited Mexico when I was 12 (we spent a night in Tijuana, Mexico). Beyond enjoying the poem, it also brought back memories for me. Thank you! I hope you win the contest! - Mr. Tozer, Worcester, Massachusetts

Oh my gosh! Both of us are on the wiki reading our students' poetry during Christmas vacation. I love collaborating with your class! Do you think I should give Laffy Taffy extra credit in Language Arts? Hmmmm...whatever should I do, Mr. Tozer? <big Texas smile>

Dear Laffy Taffy,
Look at today's featured Brainpop video. It's about immigration. Weird timing.

So, apparently, the poem was too long to be in the contest. :-( I still had fun writing it. :-)

My dad came home from the airport with an unexpected souviner. He gave me not one, not two, not twenty-nine and a half, but FOUR Mexican Jumping Beans from San Fransico!!!!!!
I named them from biggest to smallest: Beanie, José,Sawer, and Teenie. Hey, Mrs. Shanahan, do you think I could bring them in to show the class?

I will cry if you do not bring those jumping beans to class! Yes, yes, absolutely yes! Bring those jumping beans to show the Brainiacs.

There's one slight problem. When they jump, the little box that they're in magnifies the sound, so there's a little, "tap tap tap" every now and then. Trust me. When my dad had them in his suitcase, he forgot he had them in there so when he heard the tap tap tap-pity tap, he searched all over the hotel room. True story. Even I can't keep them in my room at night. They might hurt some people's learning. I'll bring the jumping beans anyway. I think this one strategy might work.
